Meet Woodsy

Growing up I never had a stuffed animal or a blankie or any other item that I was extremely attached to that made it steadfastly through my youth into adulthood with all its wear and tear having been so loved.  I just didn't.  It kinda makes me sad.  I love when people still have their childhood loveys.  Oddly or maybe embarrassingly enough, I started sleeping with a stuffed animal in college.  It was the coziest stuffed animal ever and I named him, Henry, and I slept with him every night.  However, Henry was a gift from an old boyfriend and then it just got weird, so I forced hinted that Andrew should buy me a new one for Christmas and that is when Evan R. Lawson came into my life(I have a weird habit of naming inanimate objects).  I called him Ev.  My sister Annie adopted the beloved Henry and still sleeps with him to this day!   Alas, when I became hugely pregnant there was no more room for Ev in bed with me anymore, and so he now resides on the shelf in Joey's room.  Anyways that is not the reason for this post!  Joey has a lovey!  Honestly, I tried to force one on him when he was really little.  It was this adorable little lovey blanket giraffe.  I named him Gerald after the giraffe from Joey's favorite book (or my favorite book to read to Joey).  I literally tried to get that kid to love on Gerald everyday!  It wasn't happening.  I finally resigned myself to the fact that Joey took no comfort in inanimate objects.  UNTIL he started grabbing for this adorable little bear that Annie had bought him when he was born.  He drags that thing everywhere.  The name on his tag was Woods, too boring I thought so I added a y and Woodsy was born!  Joey sleeps with him every night and drags him around everywhere.  Woodsy has been to the grocery store, Funtown, the beach.  Let's just say with a germaphobic mother, Woodsy has seen the wash machine more times that he can count:)  I hope Woodsy will make it into Joey's suitcase when we pack him up for college, my husband does not:)

Here's Woodsy riding Joe's motorcycle!

Beat the Heat: The Adventures of JCP

Yesterday was brutally hot, am I right?? The night before I worked at Maxwell's and let's just say it was a sauna!! We have no AC so tourists that come into the store are completely outraged baffled.  I try to explain that these days are extremely few and far in between, it's usually quite lovely on a summer day in the OP, but they still get all hot and bothered anyways(get it?? not funny?? Well I think so!)  Yesterday was the kind of day I imagine in the depths of winter!! You won't find me complaining.  Having said that, I won't lie, I did conjure up an image of snow yesterday.  This is why fall is my favorite season people, it's weather perfection in my opinion!! Anyways I digress.  How do I keep a 15 month old energetic animal boy cool??  I contemplated the beach, but mama was just too darn hot and tired to chase said boy across all corners of the sandy sanctuary.  So here is what we did instead!

We started off the morning on the back deck with our breakfast and coffees for mum & dad!  Joe played in his pool full of rainwater from the night before.  Great parenting right there huh??;) He had a blast.

But now I am wet mum and dad!

I let him run around in just a diaper, and apparently he decided to give plumbing a shot.

When your grandparents have a pool, you pack up all your pool paraphanalia and head over PRONTO on an 80+ day! And so that is exactly what we did:)

Floating with my man slash working on my tan! I swear I am not naked, just a strapless suit--who needs tan lines??

Testing out the waters

Ooh a noodle??

Get this ridiculous hat off me mum!

Joe entertained himself on the deck for awhile, then we took a dip again and played some more.  We lasted two hours! I have such a sweet little boy! (I don't even deign to think of the demon my next child is sure to be!)

My sweet Grampy made me some lunch before we left! A yummy chicken salad sandwich, chips and an iced cold diet coke.  I NEVER drink soda, but this sure hit the spot! My grandparents are the most adorable creatures in the universe.  Joe and I enjoyed our time with them!

Chugging down some milk after a long afternoon nap:)

We played outside before dinner.  Joe chugged down some water.  It's from the sink, I swear I didn't let him drink the rain water(although he did try!)

He missed his mouth numerous times and cooled himself off instead

My sweet boy right before bed time; relaxing and watching some Bubble Guppies with Woodsy(his bear).  Then it was a book, prayers and bed! Phewsh what a day, Joe fell right asleep:)

Mum then ventured out in the thunderstorm(if you know me at all you know that's dedication) to get some ice cream at Beal's! Hey! the parents need to stay cool too:)

Here's to a cooler day today!

Beach bums

I always feel so fortunate to live where I do! The Maine winters are long, but I think it truly makes me appreciate the summer that much more.  How lucky are we that we live so close to numerous great beaches!?  The past several days I have gone to three different beaches and had a blast all three times.  I am also feeling quite lucky that Joey loves the beach:)  He enjoys playing in the sand, and LOVES the water, THANK GOODNESS!! We didn't get to make it to the beach much last summer so we are certainly making up for it this summer.  This past Sunday, Joe's napping schedule was a bit off so he slept right in the middle of the day, when he woke up we decided to head to Willard--convenient and free parking! Can't beat it.

Joey and I needed a little snack when we got there, so we shoveled down some goldfish!

Loves rocks!

How adorbs is this little hat??

Daddy is trying to persuade him back up to our spot on the sand(unsuccessful)

Seriously?? What a ham! Love this kid:)

Playing with his dino pail! (gosh I hope he doesn't adopt that nickname!)

Beach feet!

Just enjoying the scenic view:)

So blessed:)

Hello!

Now that I have started my blog, Paladino Picks, I have become quite the blog hopper!  Many of the blogs that I follow are family blogs, scrapbooking their lives of the blogger.  I thought that seemed like a great idea because I am so awful at keeping a baby book!  I made it to three months! But by blogging about our life, I can look back on what was happening and so can Joey, and hopefully my other kids as well!! So even if no one else reads this blog, it won't matter because it's something I can always look back on and probably laugh about what a dork I was!  So I hope you will join my blessed little family as I blog about our journey through our simple, wonderful life:)
